Chronicle of Seibersdorf castle: At first conceived by Emperor Heinrich III as part of a medieval defense line along the river "Leitha" 1412 destruction from 1559 on it was expanded to a well-fortified moated castle by Leonhard v. Pichler. 1683 - strategic & military important base during the turkish seige, the construction survived the seige & saved the population that managed to flee to the castle. From 1715 on the castle was generously redesigned & given its baroque style thus constructing a prestigious palace. 14th century the owners were the "Pottendorfer" from 1392 on it was "von Puchheim" from 1672 Count Palffy, Nadasdi von Pottendorf, v. Riedemann - Ledebur 1939 - 1945 the castle was used as a german military hospital, after that as a russian military hospital with subsequent deterioration since 1970 - owned by "Import & Export Trading Company Corporation" which has completely renovated & revitalized the inside of the castle The facades & the whole outward appearance were given a historically correct form, at the same time changing all 4 corner bastions along the former moat to baroque style & also changing the buildings looking towards the garden to garden pavilions. The bridges leading from to town & the garden were sculpturably adapted & upvalued by stone sculptures. The main building encloses a large court yard. The rooms have been substantially restored & supplied with modernized infrastructure in the past years - heating, gas, water, electrical wiring. Wall frescos in the grand ballroom from the years 1720/30, having been covered up by several layers of paint have just recently been discovered, excavated & returned to their original baroque condition with much sense of detail. Nowadays these frescos produce a ceremonial setting for the yearly Seibersdorf Music Festivals with classical music concerts. The castle is about 28km to the southeast of Vienna & just as far to the airport, both can be reached within a 30 minute ride.
